Frequently Asked Questions
- Which devices are supported?
- SwiftKVM is compatible with Raritan Dominion KX series KVM-over-IP switches that use the e-RIC protocol over TLS (port 443).
- How do I connect to an IPv6 device?
- Enter the IPv6 address directly in the Host field, for example
2001:db8::1. For link-local addresses, include the zone identifier: fe80::1%en0. No brackets are needed.
- How do I enable audio?
- After connecting, click Start Audio in the toolbar. Audio streams from the remote system over a separate connection. Click Stop Audio to end playback. The button is only available when the KVM device supports audio.
- Where are my passwords stored?
- Passwords are stored in the macOS Keychain, encrypted and protected by the operating system. They never leave your machine.
- The video looks blurry or laggy. What can I do?
- SwiftKVM automatically negotiates the best encoding with the KVM device. Video quality depends on your network bandwidth and the KVM device's capabilities. Check the diagnostics panel (click the info button in the toolbar) to see the current encoding, resolution, and frame rate.
- I get a connection error. What should I check?
-
- Verify the hostname/IP and port are correct.
- Ensure your Mac can reach the device on the network.
- Check that your username and password are correct.
- The KVM device must be accessible over TLS on the specified port.
- Does SwiftKVM collect any data?
- No. SwiftKVM connects directly to your KVM device. No analytics, telemetry, or personal data is collected. See our Privacy Policy for details.
System Requirements
- macOS 14.0 (Sonoma) or later
